WELCOME TO THE FARNHAM CYCLE CAMPAIGN

Farnham's road congestion is one of the worst in Surrey. This photo is from September 2019 without the traffic cones and we have many photos that are similar from 2019. So why not cycle into town from now on. Stationary cars are even safer for cyclists but imagine what it would be like if Farnham had segregated cycle tracks. Please email your local Surrey County Councillor and Town Councillors if you want to make this happen quickly in Farnham.

FCC want to create cycle tracks that are separate from the road and will encourage a significant volume of people want to start using them on bikes and scooters (electric, push and mobility) each day. We aim to link large areas of housing with major Farnham destinations such as schools, stations and town centres via tracks. The councils are still considering our plans but we need more public support so please follow us on Facebook and Twitter (@CycleFarnham). We regulary post some amazing info about cycling from around the world.

GIVE IT A GO CAMPAIGN

A potential for a behavioural change campaign to be run when the Town Centre traffic
scheme gets underway. We think it would be helpful to encourage people to consider travelling in a different manner whilst the roadworks are in progress.

LATEST FARNHAM CYCLE PARKING MAP FOR FARNHAM TOWN CENTRE

Waverley Borough Council have produced a map of the current official places where you can park you bike in the town centre. Of course, there are also loads of railings around the town that are also useful. But at least the new council map is more accurate than the black 'wayfinding posts' around the town, which show some non-existant cycle racks!

WHY NOT JOIN ONE OF FARNHAM'S MANY CYCLE  GROUPS

Whether you want competitive cycling or just a friendly social ride, there is a cycle group for you, for all ages and abilities. Here is our list. If you know of other clubs that aren't yet on the list, please let us know.

OUR MAP OF A POSSIBLE CYCLE NETWORK

People often say that there isn't enough space in Farnham town centre to build cycle tracks. So to set the record straight Farnham Cycle Campaign has published OUR MAP SHOWING POSSIBLE ROUTES across Farnham which could be used to construct a initial network of cycle tracks. These cycle tracks would not require the closure of any car lanes but would allow a lot of people to get into Farnham town centre by leaving their car at home if they live close enough. This would reduce car congestion in the town centre which would help people who live too far out to cycle into town.

If you would like to see this network built, please email your  local councillor. Their existing plans won't form a safe cycle network.  You can find the councillors email addresses by searching for 'democracy' and 'Farnham'.
